Learner response blog tasks
1) Add your finished magazine cover as a JPEG image.
2) Type up your feedback from your teacher. If you've received this by email, you can copy and paste it across - WWW and EBI. You don't need to include a mark or grade if you don't want to.
Mark out of 15 for Media Language: 14
Estimated A Level Coursework grade: A*
WWW: Sanjivani, you’ve produced an excellent Teen Vogue magazine production. You have really considered the aesthetic of the branding through careful and detailed research and planning as evidenced by your blogpost. Your application of knowledge and understanding of media language has been demonstrated through your choice of cover model’s costume, setting and cover lines which all reinforce the magazine’s focus and target audience.
EBI: Quite difficult considering how well you’ve done but I would consider the wording of your main cover line – not entirely sold on the ‘what’s latest this season’ I think this could be reworded and snappier to entice a younger target audience. Also, Prachi’s name in black would have been in another colour to stand out even more. Nevertheless, still a really good product overall!

3) Consider your mark against the mark scheme above. What are the strengths of your production based on the the mark scheme? Think about magazine cover conventions and the media language techniques you have used to communicate with your audience (e.g. mise-en-scene, camera shot etc.) Notice the focus on narrative in the mark scheme for Media language.
Strengths:
Composition of the text and the colour scheme, the posing and where the subject is within the frame and lastly the range of typography.
Weaknesses:
The lighting and contents of text needs to be more targeted
4) Look at the mark scheme again. What can you do to move your mark higher and, if required, move up a level?
Better lighting, using better wording and using more conventions such as an issue number and bar code/price tag.
5) What would be one piece of advice you would give a student about to start the same magazine cover project you have just completed?
They should pay attention to lighting but also on where the subject of the key image is to ensure focus on them rather than the background or other parts of the front cover.
